Bridgewater, Va. – The return to competition took another step forward on Oct. 15, as the athletic staff learned their probable schedules had been sent off to the ODAC presidents’ council.

This means the schedules that coaches and staff have been working on for the past few weeks now sit in the hands of the presidents of all the ODAC schools for approval under the unique circumstances.

On June 21, the ODAC announced the postponement of all sports until 2021. For many athletes, it seemed impossible that they would even get to compete by that date. However, the BC athletic community believes that this news provides the hope that things might be returning to normal soon.

The anticipated winter sports schedule will tip off with men’s and women’s basketball which is set for the third week of January, according to ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston. The pandemic shortened season would consist of a minimum of 12 games in conference. Games unassociated with the conference are up to the individual institutions.

This news comes later than the coaches expected. The coaches had anticipated learning details about the spring season during this meeting, but now it seems that they will have to wait until November after the next presidents’ council meeting at the earliest.
