Bridgewater, Va.- Bridgewater College’s Latinx Student Association struggled with attendance and holding meetings during the 2020-2021 school year, but is back this year and planning a variety of upcoming events for students this semester.

Last year was hard. Our club barely had meetings because when we did, we had little to no attendance,” said club president and senior Pamela Gonzalez-Encina. “However, I do think Covid-19 gave us an opportunity to find new ways to involve our members.”

So far, the association has had one club meeting and also put on an event in the KCC to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Upcoming events include a trip to Overlook Farm on Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. and a movie night on Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. Additionally, the club hopes to hold their Salsa Night in November, before students leave for Thanksgiving break.

“LSA’s events are always a fun time, and I’ve loved the environment and friendships I’ve made in LSA, so I hope our events can do the same for others,” said junior Bailey Morrison, who is the association’s event coordinator.
