“Crazy”

Palms begin to sweat as I hear the man in uniform call out my name.

Chest erupts with trembles of panic, like teeth chattering on a cold winter’s day.

Head slowly triggers a buzz, sending vibrations through my entire frame.

I feel my mothers eyes burning,

Her tan tired hand grasps my wrist

Warning me:

Don’t tell them anything

They will think you’re crazy

Crazy

A five letter word that

petrifies my heart, heavy like a million blankets

settled on my shoulders, yet I am cool.

Crazy

You are crazy.

You are not crazy,

You are fine

You are –

You
