Bridgewater Succeeds in Fall Sports
Fall Sport Athletes are Recognized for a Victorious Season

Bridgewater, Va.- Bridgewater College fall sport athletes were recognized for their accomplishments this past season. Fall sports consisted of football, cross country, field hockey, golf, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. Various athletes were recognized with a selection of awards. The fall sports season starts as early as Aug. and usually ends in Nov.
The football team had the opportunity to participate in the first round of the NCAA playoffs in 2019. The team consists of over one hundred football players, and many of them received awards. Coach Mike Clark was awarded Coach of the Year for the 2019 season. The team was 10-1 for the season and was highly recognized for their outstanding ability.
The First Team All-ODAC award was presented to players: Re’Shaun Myers, Gary Ramey Jr., Matt Dang, Jay Scroggins, Conner Kleffman, Will Hoffman, and Cole Cooksey. Players who were presented the Second Team All-ODAC award consisted of: Malik Crowe, Deshomd Denny, Chase Rosenthal, Demetreus Jalapes, Jarrod Denham, and Logan Weis. The Third Team All-ODAC players were: Da’Sean Davis, Dustin Green, Luke Barnum, Trey Stephens, and Grant Monson.
The volleyball team had a successful season as well, finishing at 23-7. Rachel Gaston was awarded ODAC Player of the Year for the second season in a row and was also awarded AVCA All-South Region. Taylor McNeely was recognized as First Team Honors and Second Team All-State. Grace Hayes was awarded with Second Team Honors and Emily Hanger was awarded with Third Team Honors.
The women’s soccer team finished at 12-7-2, with a total of 34 goals by the end of the season. The team as a whole was awarded the Pinnacle Award, which is given in recognition of academics, ethics and on-field success. The team was also awarded the Team Academic Award.
Individually, the players that received First Team All-ODAC were Savannah Cowan and Hanna Randolph. Cowan and Randolph were also each awarded All-South Atlantic Region Third Team, and Second Team All-State. Second Team All-ODAC was awarded to Cat Haufe, who was also awarded All-South Atlantic Region Second Team. Lexi Winker and Sydney Ryan were recognized as Third Team All-ODAC to finish out the season.
Men’s soccer finished at 5-12-1, with a total of 20 goals. Thomas White was awarded with Second Team All-ODAC and Second Team All-State. Leo Alcantara was recognized as Third Team All-ODAC.
Field Hockey finished at 5-14, with a total of 29 goals.. Courtney Cooke was awarded with First Team All-ODAC. Jacqueline DiFulvio, Georgia Howard and Karinne Moyer were recognized as Third Team All-ODAC players.
For women’s cross country, Calista Ariel was awarded the 2019 ODAC/Farm Bureau Women’s Cross-Country Scholar – Athlete of the Year at the end of the fall season.
