Trick-or-Treat in the Park
The Town of Bridgewater Prepares to Celebrate Halloween at Oakdale Park
October 30, 2020
Bridgewater, Va. – The Town of Bridgewater will be hosting Halloween festivities at Oakdale Park on Oct. 31. Children and their families are encouraged by the Town to attend the event dressed in their Halloween costumes.
“The Town in previous years hosted a Halloween event at Sandy Bottom Mini-Golf, but due to COVID-19 we wanted to move this year’s event to a space that would allow for more social distancing,” said Parks Coordinator Tess Croy.
Trick-or-Treat in the Park will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The event features treat-or-treating around the soccer fields and pumpkin decorating at each of the three picnic shelters at Oakdale Park.
Seventeen local businesses and organizations will be distributing candy. A few of those groups participating are Smiley’s Ice Cream, Urgie’s, Bridgewater College, Bridgewater Community Little League and Bridgewater Coffee Company.
“Bridgewater Coffee is preparing to hand out carefully bagged candy dressed up as a trending online game,” said one of the owners of Bridgewater Coffee Company Jenna Matthews.
Trick-or-Treat in the Park has been modified to accommodate COVID -19 guidelines.
“We have asked all businesses and organizations setting up to wear masks, have one designated person to hand out candy and trick or treating stations will be spread out along the soccer fields to make sure we are all doing our best, but still able to enjoy trick-or-treating,” said Croy.
