Bridgewater, Va. – On Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the monthly town hall meeting, Bridgewater Town Council announced that leases for businesses on the corner of South Main and West College Streets will terminate at the end of June 2022 to make way for the regional restaurant chain, Macado’s

“The town’s decision was really back and forth, so Tuesday’s town hall meeting offered some nice closure,” said Karen Luster, the owner of Karen’s The Prissy Country Girl Jewelry, one of the businesses that will relocate this year. “I’m looking forward to starting fresh and I truly believe that everything happens for a reason.”

Luster’s store, along with Sapphire Wellness Center and Kelli’s antiques, are currently seeking new locations with hopes to remain a part of the Town of Bridgewater community.

“I love the little stores in the downtown area, and I hope they stick around,” said senior Lexi Lease. “I do think another good restaurant, like Macado’s, will really add to the college-town charm of Bridgewater.”

According to the Jan. 14 edition of the Bridgewater Buzz New’s Rumor Has It, the town is also considering Macado’s construction an opportunity for additional public parking on the corner of West College and South Grove, though “Nothing is final yet, and no deal has been signed.”
