Bridgewater, Va. – A big fourth inning from the Eagles of Mary Washington helped propel them to a 7-4 win over Bridgewater College on March 15.

Each squad came into the matchup coming off of wins and looking to build off of their success as they head toward conference play.

The Bridgewater bats got hot quickly with senior Kevin Navedo signaling to right field and driving in fellow senior Jarret Biesecker for a run to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Mary Washington fired back with an RBI single from sophomore Ty Lowe, which scored sophomore Noah Roots and knotted the game up at 1-1.

Things calmed down through the second and third innings with some solid pitch from both sides, forcing both clubs to go scoreless through both.

The BC Eagles got back in the run column in the top of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly from senior Tanner Montgomery, which scored sophomore Brandon Hartman to give BC a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth.

Mary Washington put together a big fourth inning by scoring six runs. The first two came off a double to center from sophomore Bobby Ayscue, followed by another double from Lowe to give MW 7-2 lead. The lead forced a Bridgewater pitching change. First-year Holdyn Ambrose threw three and a third innings before being replaced.

Bridgewater would go on to score two unearned runs in the seventh and eighth innings on a couple of passed balls to cut down the lead. BC just did not have enough at the plate to pull out the win and dropped the game by a score of 7-4.

BC drops to 11-5 on the year, while Mary Washington moves to 11-6.
