Bridgewater, Va. – The BCVoice Midweek Radio broadcasts Wednesday evenings on Instagram Live at 6 p.m. They cover topics related to news, culture and sports.

“I’ve been able to switch the format [of the show] and change forms to make it my own,” said senior Isaac Miller, the radio manager.

For each show, Miller arrives early to the broadcast room to set up the equipment and serves as host.

“[The hardest thing is] coordinating people, making sure everyone knows when they’re supposed to be here,” said Miller.

The penultimate broadcast opened with Miller and first-year Jay Riley covering the news. “[It’s hard] finding Bridgewater news that isn’t outdated,” said Riley.

The pair discussed some national news as well as recent developments in Ukraine and Russia.

“This guy is kind of chill,” said Riley about Miller.

After the news, junior Kaia Richardson stepped in to cover culture –with Riley pulling a double shift to help.

“I was used to news writing and photography, so I wanted to try something new,” said Richardson.

The two covered recent music, movies and awards – mentioning new releases and discussing their quality.

“I like talking about movies and shoes,” said Richardson.

Several broadcast staff were absent due to scheduling conflicts, so the team cut the sports segment, and Riley and Richardson extended the culture segment by including Miller at times through asking him questions.

“I once got to talk about a new game that came out: Elden Ring,” said Miller about a previous broadcast.

After the broadcast, Riley and Richardson stayed to hang out while Miller shut everything down and locked up.

“I like vibing with them,” said Riley.
