November 15, 2022
Bridgewater, Va- Bridgewater College’s Varsity Esports team is preparing for their program launch in 2023. A recent event was held in the Forrer Learning Commons to learn more about this new program at Bridgewater, which encompasses gaming and competition.
What’s New?
- Bridgewater Esports is launching in 2023, with tryouts from March 14-26 in Heritage and Wright on the third floor. Pre-season scrimmages begin in two weeks, and the Bridgewater esports team will compete in the National Association of Collegiate Esports and the Mid-Atlantic Esports Conference.
- BC is recruiting for teams in League of Legends, Rocket League, Valorant, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Overwatch 2.

Why it Matters:
- The Esports program at Bridgewater hopes to provide student engagement and create a professional skill set that will equip students for a wide range of job opportunities, whether they are in gaming and esports or other connected professions.
- “I play video games, but not these types of video games, so I’m interested to see what kind of style and competitiveness these games bring out of me,” said business major and first-year Liz D’Aurora.

Bridgewater College Esports is in search of students who want to partake in competitive action while developing a safe, fun and inclusive program, pursuing their passion for gaming and competition.
