The Men’s Basketball Team Start off the Winter Season 2-3

Bridgewater, Va.- The Bridgewater men’s basketball team has had an up-and-down start to their season, as they have played a total of five games and sit on a record of 2-3.
The Bridgewater men’s basketball team has had their initial losses, but also accomplished some key wins to go hand in hand. The men’s team has had rotation in their starting lineup, with some exceptional talent on the roster.
“It’s only the first five games of the season, we still have a lot left to play before playoffs, so I am sure we will be alright,” said sophomore Will Dunlap.
The men’s team lost their very first game of the season to Marymount by only a few points. In that game, they shot the ball and made 38.5% of their total field goals, while also only shooting 17.6% from three.
As they went on to their next game against Albright, they improved their shooting splits by shooting around 38% overall, but their three-point shooting went from 17.6% to 22.7% in a winning effort over Albright.
In the game against Albright, Bridgewater shot 39% from the field, while also shooting 30% from the three.
The Eagles then went on to win two games in a row, by defeating Lancaster Bible at home in a close battle. With a total of seven lead changes and four ties throughout the game, Bridgewater was able to sneak away with a 59-56 win, making their record 2-1 at the time.
After their win against Lancaster Bible, the Eagles would then drop two in a row, losing to Penn State Harrisburg, this being the first of two. In that game, the Eagles shot 39.7% from the field overall, a season-high, and shot 24.7% from beyond the arc, but ended up losing to Penn State Harrisburg to a score of 75-63.
The next game against Guilford was their first ODAC conference game of the season. The Eagles would end up losing this game as well, meaning they have lost two in a row and making their overall record 2-3.
In the game against Guilford, Bridgewater shot only 23.5% from the field overall, a season-low, and shot 22.2% from beyond the arc.
The Bridgewater Men’s Basketball team is set to play a total of twenty regular season games, and if they make the playoffs, could play up to twenty-four games.
“It’s a long season, and we are still finding our identity, but when we do, other teams better watch out, because we’re coming,” said sophomore Landon Hawes.
