BRIDGEWATER, Va– The community welcomes another new business, The Coffee Room, as it opens on Main Street of Bridgewater.
The Coffee Room, which opened on Oct. 18 of this year, is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Its clean and simple atmosphere encourages patrons to sit and enjoy their purchases inside the cafe.
Julie Kulikovskiy, owner of The Coffee Room, partnered with her husband, Andrey, to open the business. Andrey, a contractor, first bought the building to use as an office space.
“He didn’t need the entire building, so we started looking into possibly doing something else with it,” said Julie Kulikovskiy. “The location of the building is perfect for a food spot, so after getting the engineers’ approval to put a drive-thru in the back, we proceeded with this coffee shop.”
The Coffee Room is similar to Bridgewater Coffee Co. and Sugar and Bean, as each business features a mix of coffee and food goods with the ability to order online. However, The Coffee Room contrasts its competition as it features special baked goods and a drive-thru that opened a few weeks after the coffee shop’s grand opening.
“Me and my husband are both from a Ukrainian background. We know the culture, the food, the people,” explained Julie Kulikovskiy. “My goal is to offer European-inspired pastries, as well as some classics.”
The business offers a diverse menu, ranging from classic lattes to trendy boba lemonades and energy-boosting Red Bull Kickers. For breakfast and lunch, patrons can enjoy sandwiches, bagels, brisket hot dogs and a variety of pastries like chocolate croissants and strawberry pistachio cake rolls.
Bridgewater Coffee Co. and Sugar and Bean are beloved by Bridgewater College students. Many hope that The Coffee Shop will be another staple spot for students.
“I like Bridgewater Coffee Co.,” Bridgewater College student, Briana Carlsen ‘25, said. “But I am excited for there to be a coffee shop with a drive-thru in Bridgewater. Hopefully, they have good coffee!”
While some students are excited about a new coffee shop to try close to campus, others share that they want more variety in the Bridgewater community. “The Coffee Room seems really nice, but I’m just not sure three coffee places on Main Street are necessary,” said Bridgewater College student, Grace Knighton ‘24.
Several new businesses have opened in and around Bridgewater this year. The Creative Art Studio and Event Center opened its doors this past summer and offers art classes and workshops for all ages. For those craving Japanese cuisine, Sakura Bridgewater recently opened next to Generations Park.
Bridgewater’s vibrant community continues to grow with each additional business. For updates on The Coffee Room, you can follow the business’ Instagram page @coffeeroom_bw.
