Bridgewater, Va. – In the spring of each year Bridgewater College holds an annual scholarship lunch for student recipients. Due to the current pandemic, events such as this one have been put to a halt.

The lunch is held to acknowledge and recognize both the students and the donors for their contributions to Bridgewater College.

“The event is a wonderful chance to match up students with donors who created their scholarships. Students have the opportunity to say thank you,” said Senior Director of Development Meg Riner.

The current pandemic has made it difficult for colleges to hold events like this one. However, Bridgewater still wants to connect students with their donors and is finding alternative ways to do so.

“Thankview is a service that sends video messages, which can be sent through email to mass audiences. It is being used between donors and students, they can say thank you from wherever,” said Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Maria Carpenter.

All Bridgewater College alumni events have been cancelled for the fall of 2020 and will be reassessed for the spring of 2021.
